This is a very old stamp set I have had for years...and I still love it. Each year I usually make Christmas cards.  This year I went old school on some - this one for sure. 

Stamping has gotten very involved at times with all the dies, tools and mediums now available. No tools used here, just a stamp and some ink. I masked the moon with a post-it note. The snow is glitter. Sometimes old school is a good thing.

Using a stamp and ink, I first laid down the image. It was barely there, so then I went in with markers and a water brush to add more color. I then spattered gold paint to finish and added the stamped saying. 

I used 140# cotton watercolor paper and then mounted it onto cardstock.

Too early for Christmas cards?

Before I came down with this awful head cold, I got busy making Christmas cards. Last year I made them one-by-one and it took much longer than expected. This year I am trying a different way- making a group of several of one style. Seems to be faster and easier but still getting the home made results I am after.   These six cards are all mixed media. I started by painting the rectangles and adding stencil paste, gesso and sprays...grungy look. Once dry I layered all the embellishments from my stash. I could make 100 of these cards with all the embellishments I have collected/made. But that is for another day!  I love how these turned out. And six at one time is a good thing.

Foiling is addictive...

I wish you could see how lovey and shiny this background and the "Merry Christmas" is. I used Deco red foil on laser printed card stock I designed in Adobe Photoshop. I have a very inexpensive laminating machine and it worked perfectly.  Ink jet prints do not work. So I printed it out on my ink jet and took that to my local UPS and for a whopping 35 cents I was able to get my design printed onto thick card stock. The flower I made awhile back. It all came together easily and I like the result.

Recovering

I finally had a total hip replacement, so I have not been able to do any crafting this past month. Just getting to the point where ideas are filtering in. In the meantime, I made this card just prior to my surgery.

I made the poinsettia from my Cricut. I think my Cricut has already paid for itself in the dies I have NOT purchased. Instead I make cut files on Cricut and cut away. I also cut out the green background piece.
