This is a typical scene in the beautiful Hudson Valley, NY- in Orange County, where I live. What I wanted to convey in this painting was the bright sunlight hitting the trees.
I did a value sketch before I actually painted this to define the light, medium and dark values. I found it very helpful to do the value sketch before I started the painting- and by sketch, I mean a 3 minute sketch- real fast.
