ATC watercolor

detail of flowers, watercolor
2.5" x 3.5"

I've been absorbed with watercolors again. Right now I am working on what is called negative painting. It's a technique of layering and glazing of watercolors to create depth in a painting. Negative painting is done in stages. This little ATC took four stages. Starting with the lightest flower and working into the darker flowers behind it. I find this captures my full attention...trying to make the depth look real.

Watercolors- the beauty is that one never graduates or finishes...it is a life time of learning.
