Don't use a child's gluestick to patch your life raft

Don't use a child's glue stick to patch your life raft...

My friend Sarah wrote this on Twitter this morning and I found it to be very profound...

How many times in our lives do we do exactly this?

My own life raft was patched for years with my childhood arsenal and it just didn't work in my adult life. What worked as a child backfired on me as an adult. Only when I learned a new way to approach life and I learned to let go of my "childhood glue stick" was I able to grow into a better, happier person.

I like wearing big girl pants much better...they fit better...

I relate. I can't remember when I went to Seabrook Island and Charleston. But I remember the sign I bought when I was there, "Put on Your Big Girl Panties and Deal With It." Thank you for all the support over the years. It has been a joy to grow out of things that don't fit and chart the waters of adulthood with you. It's nice to be "reasonably happy" isn't it?
