Purple for Christmas

5x7
I have a friend that loves the color purple. I made this Christmas card for her. I painted cardstock with Jaquard halo purple gold paint. Then I embossed it. Then I used an old Stampin' Up die set (retired) for the ornaments. I layered dark purple, gold and the paper I made. The angles are from Anna Griffin Christmas Angels.  I am not a huge fan of purple, but I do love how this card turned out.

Happy Crafting!

weeping angel

I love cemetery angels. I have been known to lay down in muddy cemeteries to get just the right shot (ask my then boyfriend, now husband, who would come along for the drive.) And yes, he still married me :-)

In early April I drove to various towns in Georgia with my sister on our annual sister-trip. This year we focused on my father's side of genealogy. We ended up in a small cemetery in Americus, Georgia, the birthplace of my grand father and great-grandfather. We usually go to the local library and the town cemetery when doing our family genealogy. While walking around the cemetery, we came upon this amazing grave of a weeping angel. It was so moving in the context of a cemetery.  The painting below is of that weeping angel. I've painted it in my Cavallini Medieval Journal that my dear husband gave me many years ago. (He gave two identical journals and I've just completed the first journal.)  The paper is hand made Italian paper, very smooth, thick and creamy. It takes a bit to get used to the paper- different than my usual Arches 140 cold pressed.

I came across an article about these angels here if you are interested in reading more about them.

new Angel ornament at etsy

I made and posted a new angel ornament in my etsy shop.
I really enjoy making these little ornaments, using the Frozen Charlotte dolls. Each is different- as I use different materials to make the wings, chains and lace. I use German glass glitter for a beautiful sparkle. The lace is dyed with tea.

Cherubs by Raphael

Raphael was an amazing artist. His Cherubs are loved the world over. I used one of them in this collage. The background is made from black card stock that was bleached out using a sponge and punchenella and then I went back in and sponged in the colors to make the colorful cloud background. The moon is made from another piece of card stock that was sprayed with gold webbing spray. The black bottom card is also black card stock that is stamped with gold pigment ink dots.
