daily painting - magnolia II

Magnolia II
5.5" x 5.5", watercolor on 140 lb. paper

I love painting flowers! This is from a photo of a bloom I took last week- I was out for dinner with my husband, and coming out of the restaurant I noticed the light was PERFECT- that wonderful late-in-the-day light where shadows are long. There was a small magnolia blooming right in the parking lot- and I took the picture right then and there. I had to alter the background- it was cars and parking space lines! This bloom is darker than the last magnolia painting I posted, because of the light.
