The first thing I thought of was "wide screen TV" and how tempting it must be for a mom of today to use the behemoth wide screen TV as a babysitter. I know there are people out there who think it is horrible to plop a baby in front of the TV...
True confession- I used the TV as a babysitter when my kids were little - when I needed to make dinner, fold laundry or do some task that took the use of both of my hands, or my full attention was needed. The TV was a big help at those times! And happily, my kids survived! One is a teacher and one is an HR employee trainer.
I was brought up in front of the TV watching Sonny Fox, Captain Kangaroo, Art Linkletter, Mighty Mouse (my favorite) and Lucy - I was in front of a TV most of the time I was indoors. As an adult, I am an avid reader and not a huge fan of TV. I do not own a wide screen TV. Our "large" TV is a 21" TV. Nuff said.

Good job, works well for the theme.
Cool,nice idea!!!
Yes it is understandably tempting.
We do have bit of a wide screen world.
your TV experiences, as a child, mother of young ones and today, sound very much like mine. (we STILL love Lucy at our house...my kids are hooked on the old B&W shows....it's nice to share them again together.)
This is a very satisfying image, besides being appealing! And I enjoyed the trip down memory lane; I reconized all the shows!
