watercolor for illustration

Classic children's illustrations by Arthur Rackham. I love his dreamy, dark whimsical style...and his command of watercolor is amazing. I've been exploring with painting watercolor on Bristol Plate instead of the usual cold press traditional watercolor paper...the flat surface of the paper lends itself to experimentation as the paint floats on top of the paper- but it also makes an already hard to use watercolor even harder!
