Menopause Queen...redo
Of all the dolls I make, my Menopause Queen seems to be the one that gets the most comments. I've made Menopause Queen as an assemblage doll, a paper doll and an ATC card...and women of a certain age really respond to her! I know I can relate!! The way I look at it- either I laugh about it or I cry about it...and I choose to laugh...
she is for sale in my etsy shop-go have a look and a smile :)

Brimming with forgotten gifts...

This paper doll I just finished speaks to most women I know. So often we get lost in the daily goings on of an ordinary day. We go to school, get married, get jobs, raise children, take care of elderly parents. It's so easy to lose ourselves in all of this.
This doll reminds me that we all have gifts- wonderful, unique gifts. I believe that each of us are given gifts by God. I also believe that it is our 'job' to find out what these gifts are. It's an expedition into ourselves, digging deep to find the nuggets of our golden gifts.
What are your gifts and how do you use them?

My crazy runs deep...

She has lovely aqua glitter shoes and a sassy crown adorned with jewels. I have added a comment on her back side, but that remains a secret except to the person who purchases her. She is signed and dated on the back.
Her body is an altered playing card. I use vintage ephemera, paint, glitter, and anything not nailed down when I make my Narrative Dolls. A true labor of love. Her arms, legs and head moves. She folds up to the size of an ATC, that being 2.5" x 3/5".

She has a way with numbers...
This is a paper doll I made a couple of years ago. It's about OCD. I know a person who has a touch of OCD and numbers are a big part. She was my inspiration. The body is a playing card that I altered. Her legs and arms move. You can fold up the arms and legs and her body is the size of an ATC, 2.5" x 3.5". If you look closely, I added tiny watch pieces into the collage on her body.
I've been going through older artwork and posting some of it. Sometimes it's good to look back. Art is one of those areas where I do like to look back. I usually take a picture of each finished piece. For a time I was really into making paper dolls. I sold them all - over 2 dozen of them! There is a whole world of paper doll collectors!
I'll post more this week.

paper doll # 2
I was standing in line one day at the store and over heard two older gentlemen talking about a woman...one said to the other, "She's was a real cupcake"
...and well...now she is a paper doll! I collaged the body with a vintage recipe for cupcakes and then painted on the stripes and the cupcake.
